Maria Quiban is the woman behind the weather for FOX 11 Morning News at 6 a.m. and 10 a.m... and for FOX 11 Noon News. You may even sometimes catch her on FOX 11's Good Day LA, too!

She was the main weather anchor for My13 News until Fall 2008.

Before joining the FOX 11 and My13 news team in May of 2000, Quiban spent two years as weather anchor/reporter for daily 5, 6, 9, and 11 p.m. newscasts for OCN (Orange County News Channel). She also built and produced weather graphics for the station's nightly weather broadcasts.

Prior to OCN, Quiban first gained experience reporting the weather while at NBC Hawaii News 8, where she served as the station's weather anchor/reporter from 1995 to 1998. Before joining Hawaii News8, she worked at UH Magazine in Honolulu, HI where she hosted a 30 minute semi-weekly magazine show targeting the Gen X audience. Story segments focused on the latest local music scene, good food and fun. Previous to UH Magazine, Quiban worked as co-host/writer for KFVE-TV in Honolulu where she introduced movies, critiques and commercials. Before KFVE, she was the host of a 1-hour weekly program called Perlas USA, which focused on entertainers, and politicians of the Filipino Community.

Quiban grew up in Honolulu and studied Journalism at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 1987, she spent 2 years in Europe and then returned home to Hawaii to finish her studies.

After 3 years of studying through their distance-learning program, Quiban has just completed her certificate in meteorology from Mississippi State University.
