KTTV FOX 11 (myfoxla.com) - Award-winning broadcast journalist Susan Hirasuna is weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for Fox 11 10 O'clock News and FOX News at 11 p.m. on Channel 13.

She joined KTTV Fox 11 in December 1995.

In 1999, she won an Emmy for her half-hour hour special, Asian Pacific Heritage: Struggles, Victories and Celebrations. The half-hour special profiled several people and groups from the diverse Asian Pacific American community of Southern California.

The following year she was nominated again for the half-hour special in honor of Asian Pacific Heritage month.

In 2001, she garnered an Emmy nomination for Best Feature Reporting; honored for stories featured on Susan's Cyberworld. The segment airs Sundays during the Fox 11 10 O'clock News and features stories about all things high-tech.

In 2002, she was nominated again for her third half-hour special in honor of Asian Pacific Heritage month.

Hirasuna is an active community supporter, often asked to act as mistress of ceremonies and guest speaker at community events and at schools and colleges. She is a long time member of the Asian American Journalist Association and for the past three years has served as a board member of the Los Angeles chapter.

Hirasuna, a Los Angeles native, joined KTTV Fox 11 from a position as news anchor and reporter at WLVI-TV, the WB station in Boston, MA. Hirasuna co-anchored the award winning Ten O'clock News broadcast and also served as the station's health feature reporter, where she was recognized with an American Cancer Society award. In 1995, she earned a Boston-area Emmy award nomination in the Individual Achievement in Anchoring category.

Prior to WLVI, Hirasuna worked at television stations throughout the West. She worked as an anchor and reporter at the NBC station in Sacramento, KCRA, the CBS station in Fresno, KJEO, the NBC station in Bakersfield, KGET and the independent stations in Los Angeles, KCOP and KCWS in Glenwood Springs, CO.

Hirasuna started her broadcast career while still in college. She worked as a news anchor at KRLA and as a production assistant at KGIL-AM and KCBS-TV.

Hirasuna was graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.
