Los Angeles - Childrens Hospital Los Angeles... so many stories within its walls. There are tragedies to be sure, and more pain than a child should endure.
Spend any time there... and you're sure to be overwhelmed with stories of survival, courage and gratitude.
Abdy Aispuro's 4-year-old son Jason has spent most of his life here.
Jason was born with heart defects, breathing problems and his intestines positioned on the wrong side of his body.
A big challenge in treating children with complex issues is making sure every ailment gets the attention it needs.
For Jason, that means more than a dozen different doctors. Each doctor trained to deal with issues unique to children.
Abdi Aispuro:
They have the best specialists even if they don't know what's going on they find out they go the extra mile.
Pediatrican Daniel Bruckner heads up Jason's care and likes what he's been seeing.
Dr. Daniel Bruckner:
He's talking more... more interactive with the house staff and with the nurses. He's much smarter than he was in the past.
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles is part of the Children's Miracle Network, which raises money to support children's hospitals all over the country.
Despite the challenges kids there face, Children's Miracle Network works hard to ensure it's as joyful a place as it can be so that kids can feel at home and not be scared of what's happening to them.
Dr. Bruckner says staff here is forever in awe of the courage of the little patients.
Jason gets to go home soon... to siblings who were also treated here. Abdy looks forward to leaving, but says she'll be forever grateful for all the healing that's happened here.
