El Segundo (myFOXla.com) - Actress Joyce DeWitt, who starred in the TV show "Three's Company," was arrested in El Segundo on the Fourth of July on suspicion of drunken driving, police said today.

El Segundo police Sgt. Danny Kim confirmed a TMZ.com report that DeWitt was taken into custody about 4:20 p.m. Saturday near Pine Avenue and Sierra Street.

"An officer saw DeWitt drive a vehicle past a barricade intended to control vehicular traffic near a park," Kim said. "As the officer spoke with DeWitt, he observed signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication. After participating in a series of field sobriety tests, DeWitt was arrested and transported to the El Segundo Police Department for booking."

DeWitt, 60, was booked for misdemeanor DUI, and was released about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on $5,000 bail, according to the sheriff's department.

She portrayed Janet Wood on the show, which ran from 1977-1984 and also starred John Ritter and Suzanne Somers.
