Van Nuys - "American Pie" actor Chris Klein pleaded no contest on Friday to a misdemeanor DUI charge stemming from his June 16 arrest on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway in Sherman Oaks.
The 31-year-old actor appeared in Van Nuys Superior Court, where he was sentenced to four years probation, four days already served in jail and 18 months in an alcohol program, officials said.
"I apologize for my wrongdoing and I really appreciate that the court gave me the opportunity to prove how seriously I took all of this," Klein told the judge, in comments reported on People magazine's website.
Klein -- who had a 2005 misdemeanor DUI conviction from San Diego County -- was arrested about 3:15 a.m. June 16 after his vehicle was seen drifting across lanes on the freeway near Woodman Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
He was released on $25,000 bail just after 5 p.m. that evening.
Media reports indicated that he entered a rehabilitation facility in Utah within a week of his arrest.
Klein played Oz in the "American Pie" comedies. He got his first big break in 1999's "Election" and is known as a former boyfriend of Katie Holmes.
