Los Angeles - Actor Charlie Sheen filed a lawsuit on Thursday against Warner Bros. and "Two and a Half Men" co-creator/producer Chuck Lorre, claiming he was wrongfully terminated from the hit CBS show in violation of his contract.
The Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, filed in Santa Monica, asks for unpaid wages, along with compensatory damages of $100 million.
Representatives for Warner Bros. and Lorre could not be reached for immediate comment.
Sheen was fired Monday from his job as leading man Charlie Harper on "Two and a Half Men," production of which was suspended earlier this year when the actor was hospitalized and entered rehab after a marathon, headline-grabbing party at his home.
In the weeks since the show was placed on hiatus, Sheen verbally lashed out at Warner Bros. and Lorre in a series of vitriolic radio and television interviews and in sometimes-ranting webcasts, ultimately leading to his firing.
"After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen's services on "Two and a Half Men' effective immediately," according to a statement issued by the production company on Monday.
There was still no word on whether the sitcom would return to production without Sheen, although rumors have circulated about the possibility of another actor, such as John Stamos, being brought in to replace Sheen.
The lawsuit, a copy of which was obtained by the website TMZ.com, argues that Lorre and Warner Bros. "decided unilaterally not to pay Mr. Sheen or the other cast and crew for the remainder of this season."
"By this complaint, Charlie Sheen is not only seeking payment of his own compensation for the series, but he is also pursuing claims for the benefit of the entire cast and crew to get paid for the balance of the season's 24 episodes," according to the lawsuit.
Not long after the lawsuit was filed, Sheen posted a message on his Twitter page, stating, "Torpedo away ... You corporate Trolls were warned. And now you've been served."
The lawsuit notes that Warner Bros. extended Sheen's contract "even while he was obtaining treatment in rehab, while he was the subject of salacious gossip stories after he had been accused of trashing a New York hotel room, and even while Mr. Sheen faced a looming potential felony conviction."
According to the lawsuit, Warner Bros. officials said they would not object to Sheen being a convicted felon, but the actor was fired solely because he criticized Lorre "after years of Lorre humiliating, harassing and disparaging Mr. Sheen."
