Michael Jackson's Kids Celebrate Late Dad's Birthday in Hometown

Published : Tuesday, 30 Aug 2011, 4:30 PM PDT

Gary, IN - Michael Jackson's kids returned to their late dad's hometown in Gary, Indiana to celebrate what would have been the pop star's 53rd birthday on Monday.

Making a rare public appearance, Prince, 14, Paris, 13, and Blanket, nine, visited the King of Pop's boyhood home over the weekend and took part in the city's celebrations to mark the occasion.

Hundreds of fans gathered outside the home where Jackson grew up to honour the tragic hitmaker, and Paris was delighted to see so many followers keeping her father's legacy alive.

Speaking to Indiana TV station ABC 7, she said, "We adjusted over the past years. And I think that coming here, seeing our dad's old house, and all the fans coming out, I think it is really sweet they did that."

And Blanket admitted the gesture to revisit their dad's roots helped them feel close to the legend once again, adding, "It's good to see the place where our dad grew up."

The children, who were joined by Michael's parents, Katherine and Joe Jackson, also signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans and community members.
