More than 4,000 fully made-up dancers gathered at the Nokia Center on Saturday night to help try to set a new world record... the most people to simultaneously dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
The "Thrill the World Los Angeles" event at the Nokia was part of a global celebration involving similar events in 300 other cities.
It's estimated that 20,000 people around the world took part, which would mean they set a new record for the largest simultaneous Thriller dance routine.
The dance, in cities in 37 countries around the world, would top the previous record set by 13,597 people in Mexico City on August 29th , which would have been Jackson's 51st birthday.
Professional dancers helped teach the dance routine made famous in Jackson's Thriller music video to people taking part in the Thriller event.
After about a month of practice , people came from as far away as Florida to Los Angeles to join in.
The record-setting event comes just days ahead of the opening of the "This Is It" documentary movie.
