Los Angeles - Lawyers for actor Charlie Sheen and estranged wife Brooke Mueller were unable to work out a custody agreement regarding their two children, so the case it headed to court, it was reported today.
According to TMZ.com, Mueller wants a monitor to be present whenever Sheen has the children at his home, and she wants to make sure that any of his current or future girlfriends are not allowed to exercise parental responsibilities.
According to the website, both sides are gearing up for a court hearing on Tuesday, and Sheen's lawyers must give Mueller's lawyers notice by 10 this morning.
On Thursday, estranged-wife Brooke Mueller got a temporary restraining order and removed their twin sons from his home, citing his increasingly erratic behavior and alleged threats against her. The two are divorcing.
Meantime, attorney Gloria Allred weighed in on the Sheen saga.
Allred, who once represented a woman allegedly assaulted by Sheen, said the alleged threats against Mueller should be investigated by authorities.
In 1996, Sheen pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery with serious bodily injury after he was accused of knocking his then-girlfriend Brittany Ashland to the floor.
Allred represented Ashland and said she sees a pattern in the actor's behavior.
"This is the same individual making threats who attacked her before," Allred said. "There is enough here. (Authorities) should be proactive in a situation like this."
Los Angeles police said they would not investigate unless Mueller filed a complaint, which she had not done by Friday, but Allred said an exception should be made.
"This is a public safety matter because he could endanger others, including the police officers who respond to a domestic violence call," she said.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Hank Goldberg issued a restraining order Tuesday after Mueller accused Sheen of being "insane."
She alleged Sheen repeatedly threatened to kill her, and that told her, "I will cut your head off, put it in a box and send it to your mom!"
Sheen has said he does not hit women, but Mueller and Sheen separated after a domestic violence incident in 2009 in Aspen, Colo. Sheen pleaded guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault after Mueller said he restrained her with a knife.
Sheen has been on a media blitz in recent days, lashing out at the producers of "Two and Half Men" for canceling production for the remainder of the season. Production had been put on hold when Sheen was hospitalized after a marathon party at his home and then entered rehab.
Sheen's public bashing of series co-creator Chuck Lorre eventually prompted CBS to cancel the rest of the show's season.
In other developments, Sirius XM radio today started a 24-hour Charlie Sheen news and discussion channel called "Tiger Blood Radio." The station is on Sirius Channel 108 and XM Channel 139.
