Los Angeles (myFOXla.com) - Fox Broadcasting announced today it has given a full- season
order to its critically acclaimed musical comedy "
Glee" after three
episodes aired.
"The response we've received to `Glee' has been remarkable,"
Fox Broadcasting Entertainment President Kevin Reilly said. "It's
already got the makings of a cultural phenomenon."
Ryan Murphy, the co-creator and executive producer of the
series about a teacher's (Matthew Morrison) attempt to save a high
school's glee club from obscurity, said it was fantastic to be the
first new series for the 2009-2010 season to receive a full-season
order and "that this underdog series, like its characters, will get
the chance to keep singing."
"There are so many more stories to tell," Murphy said. "We're
grateful for the incredible passion shown by everyone involved --
the unbelievable fans, the cast, crew, our partners at the network
and studio and even music artists and labels."
"Glee" premiered May 19 following last season's final
performance episode of "American Idol." The pilot, which included
scenes filmed at Long Beach's Cabrillo High School, was rerun Sept.
2. The second original episode aired Sept. 9.
Reilly said he has seen all 13 episodes produced and "Murphy,
his team and the talented `Glee' cast have knocked our socks off
with their incredible work."
