Many of us don't know the the difference between vitamins D, C and B, but knowing about your vitamins may be a matter of life and death.

According to Whittier Oncologist Glenn Tisman, while adding synthetic folic acid to the U.S. food supply has cut the number of birth defects like Spina Bifida by half, there may be unintended consequences.

Cancer researchers like Tisman have noticed thousands more cases of colorectal cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer.

Dr. Tisman says too much folic acid can also known as folate, can interfere with the body's ability to utilize vitamin B12.

Christine Devine has more in this video report.
