Twitter Plays Big Role After Chile Quake

Los Angeles - Social networking tools like Twitter played -- and still are playing -- a huge role in getting word into and out of Chile after the massive earthquake there.

Twitter has been used as a key communication link for Chile... so much so that the United States Department is recommending it.

There are homes and buildings that have working internet connections intact, and organizations like the Red Cross have been twittering updates for the public about conditions, shelters, and announcements.

iPhones and BlackBerrys have also played a part in the earthquake aftermath. 3G (and 4G) are the only working wireless networks in much of the country.
