Matthew Alford is, like Ed Chernoff, a partner in the Houston law firm of Stradley Chernoff & Alford. According to the firm’s website, after attending the University of Houston law school, Alford joined a civil law firm in Houston and then the Harris County District Attorney's office as an Assistant District Attorney. The site says Alford had a 93% conviction rate during his 5 years of prosecuting cases.

In 1997, he began his own practice. Two years later he joined forces with Ed Chernoff and Bill Stradley to form the partnership of Stradley, Chernoff & Alford.
