West Hollywood - Rick Bayless, the first winner of " Top Chef Masters " on Bravo, has opened a restaurant right off Melrose Avenue.

It's called Red O, and it has quickly established itself as one of the Los Angeles area's hottest dining spots.

Red O Restaurant in West Hollywood features Rick's famously unique take on Mexican food.

RICK BAYLESS:
"I want the real flavors of Mexico to hit the plates here."

Inside the kitchen, Executive Chef Michael Brown is making four dishes for our story. He starts with the duck taquitos.

MICHAEL BROWN:
"We mix the duck with a little bit of arvola tomato sauce and finish the dish with with a little bit of these beautiful micro greens."

Next on our menu is the sopes... with shredded beef topped with tomato green chili and fresh cheese.

MICHAEL BROWN:
"It's made to share. We make four little ones per plate. They're just a one bite explosion."

Then there's cochinita pork marinated in banana leafs served with black beans and red onions.

MICHAEL BROWN:
"As you can see, it's a very colorful dish and it doesn't last on the table long."

Our dessert choice -- a goat cheese-cheese cake.

MICHAEL BROWN:
"We top that off with a bit of candy corn and a little sprinkle on top."
