San Diego - Lisa Breckenridge takes Lisa's LA on the road for a quick trip down south to San Diego to check out some of the nifty things going on in that part of Southern California.

You can scroll through and watch all of her video reports in the media player... and check out the script information about the places visited below.

Walking the street of La Jolla is almost like walking thru a quaint Mediterranean village -- plenty of shopping, art galleries to peruse, and all types of dining experiences.

We stop at award winning George's at the Cove, a three-level resturant starting with fine dining on the bottom level.

Next stop -- to get some culture at the Museum of Contemporary Art - San Diego, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Nearby you'll find the Children's Pool. Originially intended to be a protected swimming area, it's now a popular destination for sea lions!

Our final destination in La Jolla -- Birch Aquarium. Can't go wrong there.

-----

Old Town San Diego is often called the birthplace of California and has 36 historical sites. Of course, there's also the shops, museums and restaurants.

We checked out Cafe Coyote, known for its yummy traditional Mexican cuisine.

For shopping, Bazaar Del Mundo offers some of the most colorful items around and has lots of authentic folk art.

With Halloween right around the corner, nothing beats a visit to a "real-life" haunted house! The Whaley House is one of only two officially designated haunted houses in California.

-----

We probably don't have to say how much fun a trip to Seaworld San Diego can be!

Lisa and her twins, Ben & Elsie, got the chance of a lifetime while they were there, meeting a 2-month old baby Beluga whale and feeding her surrogate mom, Aluha.

The kids also went crazy for the walruses and bonkers for the polar bears in the Wild Arctic exhibit.

From there, it was off to Belmont Park and its classic seaside amusement park, along with the wave house and it's on-land wave simulators!

That's all situated along a three-mile boardwalk that connects Mission Beach with Pacific Beach.

In Mission Bay, Lisa gave standup paddle boarding a shot. Hilarity ensued.

The aquatic playground is filled with all types of water activities, and the Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa offers them all.

-----

Then there's the world-famous San Diego Zoo, where Lisa and the kids got up close and personal with some of the 4,000 thousand animals living there.

The zoo is located in Balboa Park, which is also home to performing art venues, gardens, and 15 museums -- including the Natural History Museum with its "Fossil Mysteries" and "All That Glitters" exhibits.

The park features several dining choices, including The Prado, with its diverse cuisine, such as Kobe sushi roll, paella, and fish tacos.

We also checked out Cucina Urbana, a California-inspired Italian kitchen and wine shop located in nearby Bankers Hill, and sampled some fantastic barbequed octopus while there.

-----

On our last day in the San Diego area, we visited the USS Midway, which was part of the US Navy fleet for almost 50-years. We didn't get to fly a fighter jet -- but sitting in the cockpit was pretty darned fun!

The nearby Gas Lamp Quarter is a 16-block section of town that's home to more than 140 restaurants, bars and nightclubs. That could take a while to explore -- multiple trips needed!

We stopped by a few hotspots -- Lounge 6, Hotel Solamar's rooftop bar and lounge, and the Altitude Sky Lounge at the Marriott

Our last stop -- Croce's Restaurant & Jazz Bar. Ingrid Croce opened it more than 20 years ago as a tribute to her late husband, 70's singer & songwriter, Jim Croce.
