Los Angeles - In our series, "Saving the California Dream," we talk to business leaders about the state of California's economy and the exodus of business. Here, we hear from Legal Zoom CEO John Suh on why he's growing his business in Texas.
John Suh
"It would be a lot easier for me and my wife if we were all here in California.
"Texas politicians at the local, city and state level are taking square aim at California businesses, encouraging them to relocate or set up new operations in Texas and they're winning.
"We were courted by the Governor's office, the mayor of Austin, the president of city council, even the Governor's wife invited us out to brunch, and they gave us over a million dollars in incentives to set up operations in Austin, and we did. And within 12 months we had 150 new jobs there.
"If you actually look at one of the greenest cities, it's Austin.... that's an incredibly green city, it is not over-regulate at all, but they completely encourage green practices.
"I'm more concerned about the mess that California is in because this is my home. This is where I grew up I've seen us go from the top to the bottom."
