Los Angeles -  A 22-story hotel will be the latest addition to the ever-expanding downtown attraction that includes Staples Center and the L.A. Live entertainment complex.

Officials made the announcement Tuesday about the $120 million project that will house 377 rooms and will be operated by Marriott International Inc. under two of its brand names -- Residence Inn by Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott. Construction is expected to begin next March with the opening slated for spring 2014.

Marriott already runs a JW Marriott and a Ritz-Carlton on the 27-acre L.A. Live campus.

Sports and entertainment company AEG has proposed building a football stadium nearby for an NFL team willing to relocate.
