Coastal German Shepherd Rescue, an Orange County nonprofit organization dedicated to finding homes for abandoned German Shepherds, is in urgent need of medical donations for a critically injured dog battling to survive after a horrific accident. The one-year-old winter white German Shepherd, named Gideon for "strength," is believed to have been hit by a car and dragged before he was found in an Orange County park and taken to an animal shelter. The dog was released into the custody of Coastal German Shepherd Rescue and is being treated by Dr. Matthew Wheaton of Alicia Pet Care Center, a veterinary hospital in Mission Viejo.

"Gideon has one of the largest degloving injuries our vet has ever seen in which an extensive section of skin on his left side is missing," says Tiffany Norton, co-founder, Coastal German Shepherd Rescue. "The next few days will be critical as Dr. Wheaton and his staff work to clinically stabilize him, and he has a long recovery ahead. The course of treatment could exceed $10,000. We are hopeful that compassionate animal lovers will give Gideon a second chance and make a decision toward his life-saving medical care.Coastal German Shepherd Rescue, an Orange County nonprofit organization dedicated to finding homes for abandoned German Shepherds, is in urgent need of medical donations for a critically injured dog battling to survive after a horrific accident.
