COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn. - A homeowner in Columbia Heights, Minn. came face-to-face with a man who looked like he was about the break in to their home. The suspect ran off before anything happened but police are now searching for the man and the family has launched a search of their own on Facebook.
At first, Jessica Krause and her one-year-old son didn't think twice about a man walking by their Columbia eights home around 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Maybe he caught a glimpse of the 46-inch flat screen TV or other electronics inside, but he wasn't content with walking by.
"After the fact, I started thinking about all the bad things that could have happened," Krause said.
Just two weeks ago, the Krause's installed four surveillance cameras around their home covering all kinds of angles, including the front and back doors.
After the man passed by the house, he found the back alley and hopped the backyard fence on the Krause property, finally making his way up to the back door. What the suspect didn't count on was that someone would be home and everything would be captured on video. The video is now in the hands of Columbia Heights police and all over Facebook.
The Krause's posted the video on Facebook so friend of friends could hare it and more people could get a look at the suspect.
Columbia Heights police are still reviewing that video and say they could charge the man with trespassing and maybe more if he had burglary tools in his bag.
Jeff Krause is installing several motion detectors in addition to the cameras. He says he will do anything he can to make his home safer, especially until the case is resolved.
