Encino - Three vehicles collided on the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway
in Encino today, leaving three adults and a 2-year-old boy
seriously injured and prompting the temporary closure of all
westbound lanes.
The accident was reported shortly after 6 a.m. at White Oak
Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.
All westbound lanes were closed as crews worked to clear the
scene, Kimball said. Two of the lanes were re-opened shortly after
7 a.m., and the remaining three re-opened around 15 minutes later,
the CHP reported.
Paramedics transported the injured for hospital treatment in
serious condition, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian
Humphrey. All were occupants of one the same vehicle, and all were
expected to survive, he said.
The circumstances of the collision were under investigation.
