Los Angeles (myFOXla.com) - An investigation was under way today into the wounding of a DUI
suspect who was shot and wounded by a bounty hunter during a
scuffle in Sun Valley, police said.
Three armed bounty hunters went to the 8200 block of Marmay
Place, near Burton Street, about 9:25 p.m. Monday to catch a man
who had "skipped bail related to a misdemeanor DUI arrest," said
Officer Karen Rayner of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media
Relations Section.
When the suspect tried to get away, a scuffle broke out and
one of the bounty hunters shot the man, she said.
The suspect apparently grabbed one of the bounty hunter's
guns during the scuffle, Rayner told the Los Angeles Times.
"The bounty hunter had his weapon taken away, and his partner
fired a least one shot at the suspect," Rayner told the newspaper.
The man was shot in the leg, Rayner said. The suspect was
hospitalized in stable condition.
Police were investigating whether the bounty hunters were
authorized to carry weapons.
