Anaheim (myFOXla.com) - Jaeyung Hyung of Las Cruces, N.M., was the men's winner and
Mandy Grantz of Pasadena the women's winner in Sunday's fourth
annual
Disneyland Half Marathon, dubbed by organizers
as "The Happiest Race on Earth."
Hyung, 38, completed the 13.1-mile flat loop course in 1
hour, 10 minutes, 44 seconds. Benjamin Gomez-Gutierrez of Mexico
was second in 1:12:46.
"I really enjoyed running the race here," Hyung said after
topping the field of nearly 12,000. `There were so many people, and
Disney made it a lot of fun."
Grantz won in 1:26, 32 seconds ahead of runner-up Stacy
Schafer of Carlsbad.
"I've never been the winner of any race before and I've never
been to Disneyland before, so running through the parks was so much
fun," said Grantz, a 23-year-old Caltech graduate student. The race
began near Downtown Disney, continued through Disneyland and
Disney's California Adventure, went near the Honda Center, then
through the Angel Stadium parking lot and finished at Downtown
Disney.
