Rancho Cucamonga (myFOXla.com) - After more than a week of medical treatment, a Beagle mix pup that had been stabbed and left for dead in Rancho Cucamonga is doing better now.

A graffiti crew found the dog, who's been named "Simone", during the morning on Sunday, April 5th near the intersection of Redhill Country Club Drive and Carnelian Street.

She'd been stabbed 13 times and had almost frozen to death in the cold weather.

The crew immediately called the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care & Adoption Center and an Animal Control Officer was dispatched to the scene. The officer rushed the injured dog to the Animal Center for treatment and emergency surgery.

Amazingly, whoever stabbed Simone didn't puncture her esophagus, vital organs or arteries...but, two hours of surgery and 23 staples and sutures were needed to address her wounds.

"Despite her terrible ordeal, Simone is a sweet and affectionate girl who is still able to wag her tail and lick the faces of the veterinary staff," according to Animal Services Director Joe Pulcinella. "We hope to find her a loving home when she is fully recovered."

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Rancho Cucamonga Station, is currently investigating this crime.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is urged to call (909) 477-2800 or (800) 78-CRIME.

The Animal Care and Services Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who is guilty of this cruel and senseless act.

Donations to help cover costs of Simone's care can be sent to:
