Long Beach (myFOXla.com) - An infant girl was killed and her brother critically injured Friday night when the wagon they were in was hit in a crosswalk by a sport utility vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver, police said.

Police captured the driver several blocks from the collision at the intersection of Redondo Avenue and 10th Street, Long Beach police spokeswoman Jackie Bezart said.

"The SUV dragged the wagon several hundred yards before it came to rest," Bezart said. The driver then fled.

The girl, whose name and age were not immediately released, was declared dead at the scene. The boy was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The man pulling the wagon was not hurt, Bezart said.

The collision occurred about 8:15 p.m., Bezart said.
