Glassell Park (myFOXla.com) - ICE agents busted what they say was a major human and drug smuggling ring being run out of a Glassell Park home.
Federal investigators say the target of the raid was the base of operations for bringing hundreds of illegals a year into the United States.
Other federal agents made six arrests in and around calexico early Wednesday morning as well.
ICE describes them as operatives working for a couple arrested at the house in Glassell Park.
Prosecutors say Teodoro Alvarez-Estrada and his wife Aquilina Alvarez headed the smuggling ring, collecting fees up to $4,500 a person.
What's more, according to ICE, the ring had ties to the Avenues
gang... and was involved in methamphetamine trafficking.
In all, there were ten arrests... in the Los Angeles area
raid and in Imperial County.
An eleventh person... a Los Angeles woman, remains at large.
