Van Nuys (myFOXla.com) - A plane carrying Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger made an emergency landing at Van Nuys Airport today after the pilot reported smoke coming from the instrument panel in the cockpit, his press secretary said.
The jet was approximately 10 minutes from Santa Monica Airport "when the pilot made a quick, steep, but safe landing at Van Nuys at 6:23 p.m.," Schwarzenegger's press secretary Aaron McLear said.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews met the jet on the runway, McLear said.
"Upon landing, the governor exited the jet and traveled to his house," McLear said. "The NetJets crew did an outstanding job and everyone aboard landed safely and unharmed."
On his Twitter page, Schwarzenegger wrote, "A little adventure just now when my plane made an emergency landing. All's OK, though."
