Malibu (myFOXla.com) - Check out video and photos of a great white shark swimming and feeding not too far off the coast of Malibu.

Photographer Dave Ogle says he was shooting video of a friend from a helicopter when he spotted what he thought was a 10' great white shark swimming in the water near Pepperdine University.

The shark was just 500 feet from shore.

Roger Murray, a lifeguard for 20+ years, told us that he'd never seen a great white shark, but that they do "live out there"... meaning that they can be found in the waters off Southern California.

Was it a great white shark?

Well, FOX 11's Hal Eisner checked that out with a shark specialist who said it certainly looked like one.

You can watch Hal's report... and see Dave Ogle's raw video of the shark... in the video player.
