Long Beach (myFOXla.com) - Long Beach police Sunday sought the public's help in finding the killers of a 27-year-old man who died while reportedly trying to get back his iPod.
The shooting, in an alley near Orizaba Park at Temple Avenue and Spaulding Street, occurred about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Officer Jackie Bezart.
Garrett Norris, of Long Beach, was playing basketball when he realized two men were trying to steal some of his belongings, said Bezart. A freelance video reporter at the scene said the men had taken his iPod.
Norris chased them into an alley where at least one of the men shot him in the chest.
Norris died later at a local hospital.
Detectives have ruled out any connection between this shooting and other recent shootings and asked the public for help in identifying the killers, described only as in their late teens to early twenties.
Police asked anyone with information to call homicide Detectives Mark McGuire or Hugo Cortes at (562) 570-7244.
