San Gabriel Mountains (myFOXla.com) - The 2,168-acre Morris Fire near Azusa in the the San Gabriel Mountains was 95 percent contained tonight, with full containment expected on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Fire crews were being shifted to the the 20,150-acre Station Fire north of Los Angeles, which was threatening the Acton area, the Santa Clarita Valley, broadcast facilities on Mount Wilson and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. That fire is about 5 percent contained, with full containment not expected until Sept. 8, according to the Forest Service.

The Morris Fire, which started Tuesday afternoon near Morris Dam, has not claimed any structures, but is still burning north and east in San Gabriel Canyon.

A red flag warning, meaning weather conducive to wildfires, remains in effect through Sunday evening.

According to a Forest Service statement issued tonight, fire crews "continue to improve line construction, mop up and rehab. Fire line repair work is a high priority as crews attempt to reduce the amount of soil exposed to help prevent soil erosion, which is always a concern following major fires."

A forest closure is in effect for the San Gabriel Canyon and will remain in effect until the fire is fully contained.

About 1,168 firefighters battled this blaze this morning, but tonight, all but 579 had be reassigned.

Evacuations orders were in effect along East Fork Road, and an evacuation center was set up at El Robles Intermediate School in Claremont.

People were urged to stay out of the area along the North Fork of the San Gabriel River. That section of the Angeles National Forest is closed, and only those with special-use permits are being allowed on Forest Service land, said Sherry Rollman of the Angeles National Forest.

San Gabriel (39) Canyon Road is closed, as is Glendora Mountain Road and East Fork Road, Rollman said, adding that anyone caught in the area could be fined.
