Los Angeles (myFOXla.com) - A 67-year-old Costa Mesa climber who reached the summit of Mount Everest in May returned to Southern California Sunday night.
Gigi Graciette has the video report.
Bill Burke may be the oldest American to stand on top of the world's highest mountain, according to his family. Burke reached the top of Everest with Mingma Sherpa, his wife reported on May 22.
Another Southland climber, 24-year-old Nicholas Rice of Hermosa Beach, returned home Friday from Nepal after reaching the summit of the world's eighth- highest mountain, Manaslu, on May 19, his sister said.
Rice spent nearly two months on Manaslu and he attempted to get to the top without Sherpa support above base camp. Rice also survived a deadly episode 10 months ago on K2 in Pakistan when 11 climbers met their deaths.
