Oak Glen (myFOXla.com) - Authorities in San Bernardino County have lifted evacuation orders for residents of Yucaipa as firefighters make gains on two wildfires.
County fire spokeswoman Jody Dyck (dike) says the 1,013-acre Oak Glen fire was 60 percent contained Tuesday evening. An evacuation order remains in effect for residents of 2,000 homes in the scenic community of apple orchards.
A few miles away, an 860-acre wildfire in Yucaipa is 70 percent contained. Earlier in the day, a thunderstorm and winds gusting up to 30 mph pushed flames toward the community, but firefighters aided by water dropping aircraft held them back.
Residents of some 400 homes were evacuated earlier in the day but that order was lifted late Tuesday.
