Los Angeles (myFOXla.com) - A parolee who called himself a monster has been sentenced to death for killing two people in northern Los Angeles County and committing a string of other violent crimes.
Steven Jones apologized to the victims' families Friday before a
Los Angeles judge sentenced him.
You can watch Chris Blatchford's report in the video
player.
Jones, who's 41, said that at the time of the 2004 murders he was a monster who'd lived on the streets from age 9 and knew only violence.
Jones shot Neil Hacker during a robbery at a Quartz Hill auto body shop in November 2004 and a month later used a pick hammer to kill Sharon Ann Willis in a Lancaster motel room.
Jones also was convicted of trying to kill two other men in
Lancaster and of battering a deputy and torturing and sexually
assaulting fellow jail inmates in 2005.
