Cerritos (myFOXla.com) - A 20-year-old man was in custody today on suspicion of luring a
15-year-old boy to Cerritos by promising him a job, then binding
him with duct tape and sexually assaulting him, sheriff's officials
said.
The man admits assaulting five other victims, and detectives
are seeking the public's help to identify them.
Lamar Andre Evans Jr. was behind bars this morning at the
Men's Central Jail on Bauchet Street in Los Angeles, said Deputy
Jeff Gordon of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau
in Monterey Park.
He has an appearance scheduled at 8:30 a.m. today at the
Bellflower Courthouse, 10025 E. Flower Ave., according to jail
records.
Evans met the 15-year-old Oct. 13 in the 1100 block of South
Figueroa Street in Los Angeles, befriended him, asked if he needed
a job and exchanged phone numbers with him, said Lt. Art Lucas of
the sheriff's Special Victims Bureau.
When the boy called Evans about work, Evans told him about a
warehouse opportunity in Cerritos and they arranged to meet there
on Oct. 16, Lucas said.
Evans took the boy to an area near a warehouse in the 1600
block of Shoemaker Avenue in Cerritos, had him perform some
physical tasks, then bound him with duct tape and sexually
assaulted him, Lucas said, adding that the boy managed to get free
and fought Evans off.
Investigators arrested Evans on Friday in Norwalk, initially
on a parole violation, and then on suspicion of sodomy and false
imprisonment, Lucas said.
In a follow-up interview, Evans admitted assaulting five
other victims, whose names and ages were unknown, Lucas said. Evans
has lived in Lakewood, Los Angeles and possibly Long Beach.
Lucas urged anyone with information about Evans to call a
Special Victims Bureau tip line at (866) 247-5877.
