Woman Murdered in Upscale Burbank Neighborhood

A 29-year-old man was arrested tonight in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman who opened the front door of a Burbank home after someone apparently knocked or rang the doorbell.

Armen Mangasaryan, a Burbank resident, was booked for murder, and was being held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at the Burbank Superior Court, Burbank police Lt. William Berry said.

Details of the time and location of the arrest along with whether Mangasaryan has a relationship with the victim, were not immediately available,  Berry said.

The daylong investigation began when the woman's boyfriend, who was in the house, and neighbors summoned police to the home in the 4200 block of West Jacaranda Avenue about 12:20 a.m., Burbank police Sgt. Robert Quesada said.

Arriving officers found the victim lying in the doorway of the home, Quesada said. She had been shot once for reasons unknown.

The name of the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was withheld pending notification of relatives.

"She opened the door, apparently after someone knocked or rang the doorbell, and she was shot," Quesada said.

The woman's boyfriend was questioned, but was not considered a suspect, Quesada said.
