Corona - A 34-year-old man was killed on Tuesday when an apparent road-rage dispute that began on the Riverside (91) Freeway ended in gunfire on a Corona street.
Ignacio Duarte Jr., of Corona, was pronounced dead at the scene of the roughly 2 a.m. shooting in the 1000 block of Pomona Road.
According to Corona police, Duarte and another motorist had been involved in some sort of road rage incident while both traveled on the westbound 91 Freeway shortly before 2 a.m.
Duarte, who was driving an SUV, exited the freeway and the suspect followed. At the intersection of Pomona and Lincoln Avenue, someone in the suspect's vehicle opened fire, striking Duarte, whose vehicle rolled across the intersection and struck a Best Western motel.
No other injuries were reported.
The suspect vehicle was described as a possibly black Ford Expedition with shiny chrome rims.
