Thousands Show Up for Job Fair in South Los Angeles

Los Angeles - Thousands of people attended the Congressional Black Caucus' job fair at the Crenshaw Christian Center on Wednesday.

While the national unemployment rate is more than nine percent, it's more than 12 percent in California and more than 13 percent in Los Angeles.

African-American unemployment in California is more than 20 percent.

Hundreds of employers took part in the job fair and more than a dozen CBC members... including Chairman Emanuel Cleaver, Reps. Maxine Waters, D-Los Angeles, Laura Richardson, D-Long Beach, and Karen Bass, D-Los Angeles... discussed jobs legislation and ideas to stimulate the economy in urban communities.
