Tustin - Gustav the German Shepherd may be badly malnourished and sick as a proverbial dog, but he's become something of a superstar as he's being nursed back to health.
The nine-month old pup was found in Baldwin Park with a punctured bowel and a severe case of mange.
Gustav is being treated at German Shepherd Rescue-Orange County, a non-profit dog rescue organization.
They're trying to raise money to pay for Gustav's two surgeries, which -- even at a discounted rate -- cost around $10,000.
