Granada Hills - A narcotics suspect was taken into custody in Granada Hills after leading authorities on a high speed pursuit on San Fernando Valley highways and streets late Saturday.
It all started when undercover police officers witnessed the suspect in an apparent drug transaction before 11 p.m. That's when the suspect apparently saw he was being observed and took off in a car.
Los Angeles gave chase as the suspect led them on a pursuit on surface streets in Mission Hills... on and off the 5 Freeway... the wrong way on San Fernando Mission Boulevard... on the 405 Freeway... and back onto the 5 Freeway.
Police were able to deploy a spike strip to flatten one or more of the suspect vehicle's tires, which eventually led to the suspect's pulling over.
The suspect stayed inside the vehicle for a time while police surrounded it, and eventually gave up.
The whole thing lasted about 45 minutes.
