Jesse James' Child Custody Case Moved To Texas

Santa Ana - An Orange County Superior Court judge today relinquished jurisdiction in the child-custody battle between "Monster Garage" host Jesse James and his ex-wife Janine Lindemulder, moving the proceedings to Texas where James now lives.

Orange County Superior Court Judge David Belz issued the order today, putting an end to a legal struggle that generated many headlines, particularly when James marriage to Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock crumbled amid reports of his infidelity.

James has been fighting for about a year to have the case moved to a court in Hays County, Texas, which is closer to where he lives in Austin with his 7-year-old daughter Sunny. The girl's mother, Janine Lindemulder, an adult movie actress, is granted a week of visitation with the girl every month in Texas, with James agreeing to pay for her travel and accommodations, Lindemulder's attorney Richard Masson said.

Lindemulder now lives in Oregon to be closer to her mother and the rest of her immediate family, Masson said.

Lindemulder recently entered a rehab center in Texas, but left after a week and a half, Masson said.

"It was sad because most of the people in there were detoxing," but Lindemulder has not had any relapses of drug addictions, Masson said. "There were problems with (her experience at the rehab center) so after 10 days she decided she was done with it and left and moved back to Oregon."

All of the issues in the case have been settled, but if there are any other problems then Lindemulder and James will have to work them out in a Hays County courtroom now, Masson said.

Lindemulder had lived in Costa Mesa and James was living in Sunset Beach, which is why the case was in an Orange County court.

James sold his home in Sunset Beach and moved to Austin with Sunny and his other daughter and son by his first wife, Karla James, as he faced intense media scrutiny when his marriage to Bullock ended.

James won primary custody of Sunny when Lindemulder was sentenced to federal prison for tax evasion.
