Los Angeles - The Los Angeles Unified schools superintendent says he wants to halt the planned revocation of a charter school operator involved in a state testing scandal after seeing extensive reforms at the organization.
Superintendent John Deasy told the school board Tuesday that Crescendo Schools, which operates seven elementary schools in low income areas, has taken strong steps to correct the district's concerns with its management.
Deasy said he hopes to recommend that the board halt the revocation at its next meeting.
State education officials invalidated the May 2010 test results after teachers notified the district that they were shown the tests in advance, told to quiz students using test questions, and then to deny doing so.
Crescendo managers have said they have taken measure to ensure such irregularities do not recur.
