Los Angeles - A man was fatally shot during a card game on a porch in South Los Angeles, and police were looking for the gunman today.
The shooting in the 1300 block of East 42nd Street was reported about 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Mike Richardson of the Newton Station.
Gumaro Carrillo Velazquez, 61, of Los Angeles, was taken to County-USC Medical Center in Boyle Heights, where he was pronounced dead, according to the coroner's office.
Detectives were at the scene as of 5 a.m., Richardson said. At least four bullet casings were found on a sidewalk during the shooting, a video crew at the scene reported.
A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
People at the scene, including friends and family, said the man was playing poker at a card table on the porch when the gunman came up and started shooting, Newsreel reported.
