Orange County - A grand jury Tuesday indicted a man accused of killing eight people, including his ex-wife, at a California beauty salon last year.
Scott Dekraai, 42, is charged with eight felony counts of murder and one felony count of attempted murder, and could face the death penalty if convicted, The Orange County Register reported.
Dekraai, who has pleaded not guilty, is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
The former tugboat crewman is alleged to have killed all eight victims in a two-minute shooting massacre at the Salon Meritage in Seal Beach, Orange County.
Authorities say the 42-year-old had an argument with his ex-wife, a stylist at the salon, over the custody of their eight-year-old son shortly before embarking on the Oct. 12 rampage.
According to police, Dekraai walked into the salon shortly after 1:00pm local time wearing a bulletproof vest and armed with three guns.
His ex-wife, Michelle Fournier, was the first person Dekraai shot and killed. He also gunned down several customers and employees -- including the salon's owner -- and shot and killed a man sitting in a parked Land Rover before driving away in his pickup truck.
Dekraai surrendered to police without incident when he was pulled over about a half-mile (800 meters) from Salon Meritage. Court documents suggest he told police, "I know what I did," shortly after being stopped.
