Shane Sparks Arrested on Sex Charges

Los Angeles - Police arrested Shane Sparks -- former choreographer for "So You Think You Can Dance" and judge for MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew" -- on several counts of child molestation on Friday.

Sparks, also a dance instructor, was arrested at his Studio City condo in the 10900 block of Bluffside Drive on Friday morning.

FOX 11 News has learned the criminal complaint, filed on Thursday by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, includes nine counts... including 4 counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 14 years of age, 2 counts of sexual intercourse with a 14-or-15-year old, and 2 counts of oral copulation with a 14-or-15-year-old.

All the charges focus around one victim, and the alleged crimes occured between the years 1994 and 1997.

Sparks, for more than a decade, has also been a hip-hop instructor at the Millennium Dance Complex -- a dance studio in North Hollywood. The studio owner tells FOX 11 News that he is "blown away" by the charges. He says Sparks seemed to be "really a nice guy."

The underage girl in this case was one of Sparks' dance students.

In the criminal complaint that FOX 11 News obtained, Sparks is described as "the most popular dance instructor" at Millenium Dance Complex.

He was taken into custody and held in the Van Nuys jail, where he was booked on Friday morning. His bail is set at $590,000.

Investigators tell us that they believe there are more victims out there and are asking those people to come forward.
