Riverside - Three men who allegedly tried to steal a safe from a Riverside
liquor store today but couldn't get it out the front door were
arrested on suspicion of burglary, police said.
Barry McDaniel, 28, Darryl Franks, 18, and Christopher
Session, 29, all of Los Angeles, allegedly went through the roof to
get in the Quick Stop Liquor Store in the 700 block of West Blaine
Street, gathered the safe and other items and put them near the
front door, said Riverside police Lt. Chuck Griffitts.
They apparently then got out the building the same way and
returned to take the items out through the front door.
But just before 6 a.m., a passerby reported seeing two men
unsuccessfully attempting to cut, pry and kick open the front door,
he said.
Arriving officers stopped a vehicle as it was leaving the
parking lot, and arrested two of the men. The third was nabbed as
he tried to run away, Griffitts said.
Police found the safe and other items just inside the front
door, Griffitts said.
The men were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center
on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy.
One of the suspects allegedly said he was in a Los Angeles
street gang, Griffitts said, and a second suspect has a prior theft
conviction.
