Suspect Sought after Woman Fatally Shot

Los Angeles - A 23-year-old woman was shot to death in the unincorporated Westmont area of South Los Angeles, a sheriff's deputy said today.

The shooting in the 1500 block of W. 101st Street occurred about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, said Deputy Lillian Peck of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Ivon Sanchez was wounded and later pronounced dead at a hospital, Peck said.

The suspect, Mauricio Farias, 38, fled in a white 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck with chrome rims and the California license plate 8M15256, she said.
