Santa Ana (myFOXla.com) - A female teacher at Saddleback High School in Santa Ana was charged on Friday with having sex with a 17-year-old male student, prosecutors said.

Naomi Perez, 33, of Brea, is charged with felony unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation of a minor and sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor between June and September 2007, said Farrah Emami of the Orange County District Attorney's office.

She is also charged with misdemeanor vandalism for allegedly scratching and denting the student's car outside of his home on Aug. 26 of this year -- two years after the alleged relationship, Emami said.

Emami said the boy was a Saddleback student when they met, but declined to say whether he was her student.

Investigators learned of the relationship while looking into the vandalism, Emami said.

Perez faces up to four years and four months in prison if convicted. She is free on $50,000 bail, pending her arraignment on Monday.

Perez taught for two-and-a-half years in the Santa Ana Unified School District. She also taught at Century High School, according to Angela Burrell, a spokeswoman for the district.

Perez was put on paid administrative leave Aug. 28 and later suspended without pay before being fired Oct. 13, Burrell said.
