San Bernardino - Police are trying to track down a hit-and-run driver who struck two young people on a bicycle in San Bernardino, killing one teen and leaving the other badly hurt.
Police say the bicycle carrying 19 year old Thomas Meeks and an unidentifiedjuvenile, both of San Bernardino, were struck by the suspect's vehicle on 40th Street just east of Acre Lane on Friday night.
Meeks suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
The vehicle fled the scene following the collision.
It is unclear if either rider saw the vehicle. After striking the two, the vehicle continued eastbound and, according to witnesses, made no attempt to stop.
The vehicle was described as possibly a 2000 or older Pontiac or Chrysler, white in color, by witnesses. The vehicle should have front-end damage around the license plate area, and possibly the windshield.
Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact the San Bernardino Police Department Traffic Division at 909-385-5735.
