San Fernando - A thief sank to an all time low when he snatched a nun's purse from her shopping cart in a supermarket parking lot in San Fernando last week.
Authorities say Sister Mary De Leon and another nun were putting groceries in their vehicle at a San Fernando Food 4 Less, when they were approached by a man who said he needed help for his sister's children.
De Leon referred the suspect to a local church.
The man thanked De Leon... and then grabbed her purse and ran to a waiting van while the nuns chased after him.
The suspect is described as a Latino male, 30 to 35 years old, with a goatee and wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants.
Surveillance video shows the suspect fleeing the scene in a green or dark blue Dodge Caravan as the nuns chase after him.
