Los Angeles - This week's Wednesday's Child is Lakes - a well-mannered, insightful and athletic young teen. Born in 1996, Lakes has a good heart and a caring personality and believes in respect and equality for all people no matter what race, culture, age or environment in which a person resides.
Although at first meeting one may consider Lakes introverted, as his comfort level increases he becomes a great conversationalist who holds the ability to make others laugh and smile.
Lakes is a basketball player and has dreams of making it in the NBA. Lakes was invited to attend Jordan Farmar's basketball camp and got some intense one-on-one coaching from Jordan Farmar, point guard for 2010's NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.
Today was all about the game and Lakes had his "game face" on - focused and determined to learn all he could during the one-on-one lesson with the "Coach" Farmar.
Lakes ran through all the drills, including dribbling the ball’wait’ make that two!
We found Lakes to be an observant and articulate kid with dreams and goals. He dreams of playing basketball for USC and to be drafted by the NBA. Lakes also talks about joining the ARMY and being able to protect his country. He feels that the world would be a better place if people stopped criticizing and judging others.
Besides basketball, Lakes enjoys playing video games, skateboarding and listening to music. He is particularly fond of rock music and would love to be able to take guitar lessons. Lakes believes that the family for him will be involved with his activities and supportive of his goals.
Further, he wants a parent(s) that will be there for him with love and guidance through the good times and the bad. Basketball season has come and gone. Lakes continues to perfect his game. As "Coach" Jordan Farmar leaves his beloved Lakers to become a member of the New Jersey Nets, we're hoping by the time next season starts that Lakes will be the first draft pick of a permanent family who will nurture him to be all that he is meant to be.
