Los Angeles - An eye for detail is just one of the outstanding qualities that this week’s Wednesday’s Child possesses. Pierce (2005) is also very good at entertaining himself for hours by building things with Legos or racing his toy cars on the race track.
Pierce is diagnosed with Autism and for him it means some delays in communicating and difficulty interacting in social situations. But that didn’t stop Pierce from expressing heart-felt and thoughtful wishes to Santa …Legos for himself and a new puppy for his social worker who recently lost her dog.
Aside from building things with Legos, Pierce is fascinated by police cars and says he wants to be a police officer when he grows up. In spite of some of his global delays, Pierce has a very unique child’s perspective about law enforcement - sharing that as a policeman he could help both “good” and “bad” people because everybody needs help sometimes.
Our friends at the Americana on Brand in Glendale, California provided a private meet-and-greet between Pierce and Santa - and wouldn’t you know it, Santa knew to bring Pierce all types of Legos for his building enjoyment. What we really hope to provide Pierce - in the form of an adoptive family - is a solid foundation on which he can continue to develop as well as unlock potential and build hopes and dreams.
All children deserve to grow up in a permanent and safe family, even during times when they might be on the “naughty list” instead of the “nice list”. We’re looking for parents for Pierce who have a place in their hearts for children with special needs and who understand that some kids just need a little extra structure, reassurance and support in order to thrive.
